I made a change to the portfolio today.
I lost a lot of files in my last laptop HD failure and didn’t have any website stuff backed up. I’ve had to decompile some flash files and fiddle about. Not a process I’d recommend or like to repeat! There are a few more recent bits and I’ve removed some of the old. It feels good to feel the flow of the projects I have worked on. I hope to work on many more in future.
I’m still doing primarily ActionScript these days, have been for a long while now. I do want to try my hand at some other languages and I have a ton of ideas but I am finding myself too short of time for any hobby projects at this moment in time.
I also want to totally change the site, having this site more of a funky games site than a portfolio. I hope to get that started soon.

Haven’t updated here in forever. I’ve been very busy!
I’ve been working now for a great company in Soho called Mediatonic. Been here over six months and it’s been an amazing experience. I do AS3 coding and AS2 here and there and some occassional graphics tweaks.
Here’s a photo to summarise the past few months

Hopefully I can come back and fix this
There’s a version where you can input your twitter username and password and your friends will appear. I also produced a version using the search API instead, I used SWX here
Version 1 - Using Username/Password
Version 2 - Using Search terms

I’ve been working on an interesting game and thinking about it, I would rather polish it up and release it as a viral game. So I’ve put back the challenge but will get back to rapid prototyping very soon

Very messed up and not really playable! I think it takes more than a day to attempt a tetris clone!

Props to Seb for the particles tutorial. The bubble stream is based on that particle class. Many snow particles falling on my head today.

To get me back into gamedev I will dedicate a day (or so) to creating games rapidly.
I aimed for a game a day, but this didn’t quite happen.

About time I upload a game given this is my games blog.
I created it to play fullscreen on my laptop, but I have diabled fullscreen so you can play it within the browser.
Whilst playing guitar hero, the drums broke so I started creating this. There’s no sound though and the notes as yet are totally random…as yet…
Have fun!

Recently my travels have led me to a rather fantastic place called
the Werks. People come and go with their laptops for the “cowerking” which is what I have been participating in. Open critiquing is encouraged and people come together to share their experience and knowledge. If you are working on a project that requires specialist talent, there are usually people available who can either lend their services or at least point you in the right direction. Freelancers can find it a struggle to expand their horizons and this organization really helps.
The Werks are also a hub for events in the Brighton area. There are quite a few more networking and coworking groups setting up. I hope the trend continues nationwide.
